August 11, 2019 - Dark ruby red with medium plus to high optical density and medium reflectivity (not quite specular, but not too diffuse). Slight amber tinged rim. Aromas are intense and appealing, with roses, cherry, and sappy red fruits along with a touch of spice. Very classic varietal notes, and very appealing and powerful. So far, so great! On the palate, medium body and acidity, with fully integrated tannins. Very rich, just short of sappy texture, with huge appeal. A bit of vinous character, but still fresh. Flavours of cherry and rose on the attack, with loads of spices and earth coming on at midpalate. Really full over the midpalate, maintains flavours really well. Some light tobacco and smoke come on at the finish, and things are juicy and show a touch of balsamic zest. Medium plus finish length, and nice intensity.

Really great, straight ahead PN here, with rich flavours and pure expression. Lovely, drinkable, elegant, and shows its age wonderfully.
