July 19, 2019 - Prior bottle was almost exactly two years ago and my notes were virtually identical. Nose continues to show a mixture of black cherry and cassis. Between medium and full bodied with blackberry and black cherry upfront with good brightness. Mid-body shows very good depth and especially good balance. Round and polished remain good descriptors. Tart black cherry and just a hint of darker blackfruit towards the back. Earth, leather and spices on the finish. This bottle showed the same balance of fruit and structure that made my first one so enjoyable. Like that bottle, feels like more time will help it open up just a touch more and there's certainly enough fruit and structure to see where this wine ends up. Next bottle for me will be June/July 2020.
