Community Tasting Note

August 28, 2019 - Crimso black colour, still good clarity, thin crimson hue. Smoky, charcoal, stewed plum, grassy. Flavour of plum, blackberry, blueberry. Sweet black fruit with right balance. Smooth chocolaty tannin. blalanced acidity. Full body. Medium finish. Still a fresh wine, smooth but good fruit.
It has continued to improve over the last few years. My last bottle I believe, but thoroughly enjoyed them. Probably the best of the 11-13 vintages I have tasted. Would have given it a 95 but a bit on the sweet side.
Clearly Halliday got this one wrong with a 87. Although I don’t see what labelling and marketing have to do with the score, he mentions this in the note.
