August 28, 2019 - Well .......well this GPL, is a brute; it is muscular , overpowering, tense and yet just somehow inviting. I have no idea how this wine will pan out ; if it stays firm, if the tannins don't mellow , it will be a run of the mill stern Pauilllac, good for food but really quite unenchanting. A restaurant wine.
If it resolves , the pure fruit bang already present will be front and centre, and make this a really special vintage.I can't believe even the real fans of GPL know for sure which way this wine will turn. I so hope it is memorable , but right now is so so tannic ( as per history) for me it is a guessing game .....

My experience with GPL from the 90's tells me that this wine will warm and develop into something quite memorable because the underlying fruit is just so pure.
