September 2, 2019 - Prior bottle was again just over two and half years ago and this wine is positively evolving, just slowly like you would expect of a traditional Piedmont wine. Red cherry on the nose that seemed brighter than previously, coupled with light leather and more earth and mineral qualities than before. Medium bodied with red cherry upfront and while it retains the acidity-derived brightness, it's much more rounded and balanced than before. Continued to show a bit of additional depth through the middle, but the improvement is in the balance, especially on the backside. There's still tart red cherry, spices and plenty of acidity, but the fruit is coming into balance with the structural notes nicely. Feels like this is still opening up and continuing to improve (something I had perhaps despaired a bit would ever truly happen). I don't see it gaining fruit-based complexity, but it will continue to improve on the integration and balance fronts. As the acidity and spices come into balance, we should see a better overall expressions. Next bottle for me will be Fall 2021.
