September 7, 2019 - From an excellent looking bottle, this wine had a medium red center and puce rims. The capsule was loose but the cork had the Leroy brand. The medium+ intensity nose offered up roasted meat, dried black cherries, volatile acidity, tan spices, and minerals. To my surprise, the volatile acidity blew off as the wine aired. It became a bit wild and "brambly" but still had an oxidative quality.

In the mouth, this wine was nicely balanced with a refined weight and great presence. It was firm and dark with substantial Chambertin style structure. Unfortunately, the fruit did not lose that too old, somewhat oxidized character.

This wine recovered nicely after 4+ hours of air. It was clear it had some very cool complexity. However, it was a bit over the hill (oxidized) and could have used a bit more fruit. This wine should be drunk ASAP and is almost certainly not worth the price if you haven't purchased it yet.
