October 12, 2019 - Not quite a year since my last bottle. Also, lots of sediment, like every one I have had. But - this is a wonderful Barolo in a difficult year. Sensual and elegant and even sexy. Soft scents of menthol and rose and tart cherry. We opened and drank almost right away and it was wonderful. Two hours later the wine blossomed with more prominent tannins and acidity but the underlying flavors are deep and even a little brooding. Dark over-ripe raspberry, black tea, menthol. Really a beautiful wine. To take Cannubi vineyard grapes and turn them into a wine of this subtlety and complexity in 2009 in a testament to the skills of Chiara Boschis and her team. Fabulously well done. We drank this bottle with vegetarian lasagna and super-tender filet on a crisp early fall evening. Could not have been more perfect. Magnifico.
