October 20, 2019 - The nose wafts a complex bouquet of rich chocolate, ripe raspberry, black plum, graphite, rose petal potpurri, sautéd mushroom and orange zest. The full body offers a nice juxtaposition of serious weight and juicy acid. The dense tannins are finely grained and tightly knit, but neither stuffed up nor mouth-stripping. The flavors include plum, raspberry, blackberry, dusty graphite, cocoa, blood orange, tobacco leaf, cassis and red currant. This is fairly accessible with a good decant, but has the stuffing to integrate and improve for at least another decade. If you're looking for a recent vintage from Priorat to open now, I do think 2014 is the year to pick.
