  October 19, 2019 - Classic Cali cab. Decanted for an hour and a half and probably should have doubled that time. Initially palate was dominated by anise and baking spices before revealing some layered complexity three hours after opening. Black pepper, chocolate, black and blue fruits with just a hint of cedar. Medium-bodied, polished, elegant and refined with a moderately-long finish. Has a long life ahead. Great wine!

  10/22/19, 7:25 PM - It always boggles my mind, what these people did way back when to tick off every wine reviewer out there. Their wines are never given the credit or the scores they deserve, IMO. My first was a 2001 and even 5 years after it was supposedly past it's time it drank beautifully. I can't understand how critics keep coming up with 88, 89 for these wines.

  10/23/19, 6:38 AM - I've found this to be the case with several of the more established wineries that I follow. The reviewers don't seem to care about consistency...just the next WOW vintage or varietal.

  10/23/19, 8:45 AM - Yes, that's right. I'm becoming more and more disenchanted with critics and their scores today. You never know what their agenda is. Their scores can be all over the map. They themselves, are not very consistent. Many good wineries and wines out there that people don't even know about.
