December 20, 2019 - I was curious to taste this 2nd bottle, especially since the 1st one may have been too early on in the aging process. The current reviews inspired my sense that this was a good time. Its possible that something went wrong with the two bottles that I had purchased (via Lot 18 in 2012 and in temperature control). But, this one is clearly not flawed or obviously gone bad. I am not feeling overwhelmed with this. To my taste it is now flaccid, without any obvious energy and without much structure. The nose is excellent, as others have noted. But the initial taste is bitter, and then there is no aftertaste. The acid is still strong. Tannins are modest. I would put this as like an older plush silk liner, that is comfortable, but not with real depth or focus. I also am agreeing that this needs air-time. First taste after opening was overwhelmingly acidic without much flavor. It peaked about 1/2-hour out, and then kept getting more flaccid. Its also possible that I opened too early and then too late, so that with only two bottles, that I didn't time this right. If this 2nd bottle is typical, then this is one to open soon, rather than waiting anymore for aging. I certainly wanted to be positive about this, so apologies to those reading this hoping for a positive review.
