Community Tasting Note

January 5, 2020 - Two hour decant. Nearly opaque purplish magenta color. Dried daisies, ripe pear, blackberry, blueberry, and subtle fresh brewed coffee on the nose. Super smooth palate, with zesty, tongue drying acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium long finish. Very nice, but not particularly exciting.

1/6/20, 5:43 AM - My friend, that is exactly how I have always felt about these Anakota wines. They should be better than they are! However, while at a Verite tasting this past October, I was reminded that Pierre Seillan who makes all the Verite, also makes these and that perhaps I wasn't letting them age long enough? So with that in mind, I'm letting my remaining bottles sit for a few more years before coming to a final decision. Though I don't think I can wait 20 years like I do with some of the Verite vintages.....I wish they'd have had a 10-15 yo bottle of this there that I could have sampled.

I have suspected for a while now that the Anakotas may be nothing more than a 'second' wine for him and KJ wines. The Anakotas just don't seem to have the same complexity or depth or finesse, but I'm told that with age I may see something different, so I will wait.......
