    January 25, 2020 - Winebar [1 Rosé, 3 Whites, 8 Reds, & 7 *shared* bottles] from 01/24/20 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Dr. Tom, THANK you *so* much for noticing/SHARING this *fabulous* wine! :)

    “From a 4.5 acre plot with vines ave 25-60 yrs old planted in soils of hard limestone with low clay levels;” Typically, “Harvested exclusively by hand, & hand-sorted in the winery; Destemming according to the quality of the vintage; Maturing: 60-80% new oak barrels;”

    N: VERY attractive red rasps with hints of crans, notes of toast, & undertones of minerals;

    P: LM body; Rndish entry with very NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it seamlessly works its way into & through the VERY LONG, very slightly puckerish finish which already shows notes of swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. While this has the balance POSS to be approachable now with food, it DESERVES through '23, then drinking through '29? 13.5% ABV; My EXC+/Exceptional-, I would think the higher a virtual lock before this is done! 91-94 pts Burghound (1/’19). [This vendor’s last bottle, though as of late Jan '20, wine-searcher still shows several sources from $147.86 - $198.46].

    4/8/20, 12:55 PM - Greetings, Ben! :) I tend to taste a LOT of wines during the Sat tastings (was it 30 @ Vintage that day?), so I don't recollect anything beyond what I recorded in this TN, sorry. :( However, several things MIGHT be of help. 1st, My ™EXC+/Exceptional- = 94-97/100 using THAT metric, QUITE a high score for me (though it seems like I often score SOMEWHAT higher than most). 2nd, "VERY LONG" (all in caps) is AS emphatic as I get. 3rd, I am almost ALWAYS > conservative than most with respect to how long a wine will last. 3rd, While Vintage Wines *tends* to have some of the BEST prices in the U.S., I've *no* idea what their price was as it was shared by Dr. Tom, one of THE *most* generous blokes one can imagine! ;) 4th, Also, see my comment on B Paul’s TN of 12/8/19, where I *quite* agree with him with respect to the relative QPR of this for Grand Cru Burgs, although I'm sensing Echézeaux is NOT considered to be in the upper echelon of Grand Crus (which I've never tasted anyway). 5th, at least as of a decade or so ago, this producer had the 2nd most ha in the AOC, 2nd only to DRC.

    Hope all of this is at least of SOME help! :)

    ™I have a listing of my "ratings" & their 100 pt equivalents on my Profile Pg here. ;)
