January 28, 2020 - Tasted in Mauritius (!) with Jose and Cindy from Macao, in the company of the a superb Quinta do Vale Meao 2017. A while since last tasted

Brick rim but otherwise dark garnet body. A blueberry, port (or Portuguese) nose, dry spice, with Wendouree bay leaf, walnut and boot polish hint. Tobacco note speaks of the hot vintage. Aroma deepens and improves with breathing.

Same on the palate. Needs air to open from initial ripe fruit but rustic, ropey tannin, to more blueberry Danish, aniseed, and savoury notes and lines. More life ahead but good drinking now - with decanting.
