How long did you decant this and of it was for a while, what were your thoughts over time? My last tasting of this a little over a month again was heavily rewarded with the last glass. -

2/6/20, 9:49 PM - I’m guessing I probably opened it on a Sat morning and let it sit in the decanter for a good part of the day. I tried the wine cause I wanted to see whether Maayan K. is a winemaker to watch? Such a great QPR on this one. Sitting on the fence with his 2017 Brilliant Mistake. Not keen on trying new wines and the 2017 vintage being my first impression. Have you tried any of Maayan K. other wines or his La Pelle Reserve?

2/7/20, 6:09 AM - Very cool. He is a great winemaker, no doubt about it. There are so few Napa 2017 Cabernets I am buying, I can literally count them on one hand. He makes a good number of the Melaka wines which I am also a fan of.
We were with him September ‘19 and tried most if not all of the wines under his direct winemaking name (non-Melaka) in a bad vintage (not as bad as 2011) and what he could do proved his worth to our entire group. We didn’t get to try his ‘17 La Pelle reserve but tried the rest of the other label lineups. Hope that helps. -

5/7/21, 4:23 PM - Papillon1112- thank you, you are very welcome. It was delicious with a hour of air and the hanger steak alongside it (I can’t stop eating the Flannery steaks). I need to check in on the ‘16 reserve soon as well. Look forward to your notes when you taste one 6 months from your last note. Have a great weekend!
