February 13, 2020 - Line up of wines for the night, 2 bottles of 2009 Château Mouton Rothschild, 1 bottle of 2003 Chateau Margaux and 4 bottles of 2005 Château Latour. Before drinking the wines, based on RP scores, it should be ranked like this; Mouton 99, Latour 98+, Margaux 93. And based on price point; Latour, Mouton follow by Margaux. My personal favourite wine goes like Mouton, Margaux, Latour. After tasting the wine throughout the night, my wine of the night is suprisingly totally different from RP, price point and my personal favourite; our consensus rank follows Latour, Margaux and Mouton.

2005 Latour is consistently throughout the 4 bottles, the aroma and taste is delicate and finessed. Deep purple coloured, roses, blackfruits, and on its palate, chocolate, dark tea. It can be drink now till easily another 30 years.

2003 Margaux is fully matured, and 2003 being one of the hottest vintage, Chateau Margaux had produced an extraordinary wine in 2003. Opulence, seductive, blackberry, cassis, vanila, cedar. Can be drank now till 2030. In its drinking window

2009 Mouton is full bodied, high acidity and high tannin, purple rim, pencil, cassis, oak, violets. It have all the trademark of a high scoring point and vintage. However, it’s not ready to drink yet, or maybe I should say if I had only drank Mouton alone, it will be as enjoyable as well. Drink now till 2060.

It’s show that even great wine and great vintage if drank at wrong drinking window will not achieve greatness pleasure. At most likely the price it’s a better indicative of the consensus.
