March 27, 2020 - My second bottle, and I liked it much more than the bottle six months ago, which I had found lacking in aromatic complexity. No problem this time! It has a dark but transparent ruby color, lively cherry aromas complemented by wild herbs, sweet citrus, exotic and sweet spices. It has a medium body, with nice, sappy acidity and gentle tannins, and a long bittersweet finish that might be the wine’s great signature. There are not many Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wines with this kind of lifted, aromatic and medium-bodied structure, but this is where the wine world is headed, and we should rejoice. At $16 this is an outstanding QPR. It was perhaps even better on night two.
