  April 10, 2020 - Deep purple. Nary a sign of age. Aromas of creme de cassis flecked with black pepper. Opens like a velvet rope in the VIP line. Spherical in the mouth with cassis, ripe blackberry juice, green tobacco and an encore of black pepper. Clinging finish. Swirling acidity seems to move the flavor profile around and accentuate it. Balanced. I couldn't ask for more from a wine. Spectacular! I have been wild about collecting and drinking fine wine for fourteen years. I can think of one better wine I've ever had and I underscored it in hind sight (gave it a 95, but with time and perspective, probably a 97). I've never scored a wine above 95. This moves the bar. 96

  4/11/20, 5:49 AM - Great TN's SWADE. I've loved this producer at first taste. Truly a fantastic expression of Stags Leap. Also, when it was first released it was listed at $95 per bottle! Have you had any other vintages of this wine?

  4/11/20, 7:20 AM - Thanks! I’m a fan of Stag’s Leap too. My CT note says I paid $90 for this. I recall the next vintage they moved the price to $120. So I drooped off. So unfortunately, no, I haven’t tried any other vintages. I can find lots of great Napa cab for $90 or less, so no regrets.

  4/11/20, 9:19 AM - A wine that I think is a steal for 75-80 is Drinkward Peschon. Also, Patria in Oakville & Outpost on Howell Mountain. What about you?

  4/11/20, 4:40 PM - I’ve been meaning to try Drinkward. I like Outpost too. If you like Outpost, you might also like Rivers-Marie. My wait on the list was very short. Myriad is excellent too. I also enjoy Shafer 1.5.
