April 12, 2020 - This wine is generally a mysterious blend of Oakville valley floor grapes and Pritchard Hill. My immediate impression of this vintage is there's more valley floor than usual. The red clay/iron ore and higher toned profile consistent with Pritchard Hill is much less prevalent, and instead it's richer, more layered and approachable immediately.
Hugely powerful and concentrated, yet amazingly weightless and elegant, this bursts from the glass with lots of dark chocolate, blackberries, cassis fruit, loamy soil and a touch of dark licorice. The texture is absolutely perfect and brings unreal elegance and sophistication even at this very young age. As per usual with Melka's best wines, this is very well layered and built for age. It will surely gain complexity with some time in the bottle. The finish is super long and persistent. I'd have to say this will compete for the best Tusk ever.3 people found this helpful 3,928 views

4/13/20, 5:21 AM - Great review Cristal2000. 16 is my third vintage of Tusk in the cellar and I have yet to try any of them! With that said, I'm huge fan of Napa after ten plus years of bottle age. I'm guessing these wines will still be babies at the point. 16 is a magical year and produced some wines that could be approached more early. Glad you could take it for a spin. Cheers!

4/13/20, 9:55 AM - These wines will definitely age very well. I would say if you want to pop one open before that 10 years, the 16 or the 14 are your best bets. Enjoy!
