Community Tasting Note

  • Rick 4 Wine Likes this wine: 91 points

April 26, 2020 - I don’t mean to hang on points, and I certainly don’t want to give a Point/$ ratio and call that a QPR, but AG gave this 93. I think he was being generous, but let’s be clear. This is a Sonoma Coast wine that actually expresses the climate and terroir. This isn’t some jammy, overly-ripe, and heavily extracted wine like a Ferren. This is a true to varietal Burgundian style wine. It’s only 12.4% alcohol but the fruit is so bright and clear. Clearly that is meant so show, but it shows like an oboe solo. Yes, it’s there. It dominates the palate, but it’s framed beautifully. The nose is rich and fragrant. The fruit is actually lighter than the nose suggests. The finish is marked by bright acidity and a variety of botanicals that announce themselves on the first breath.

so the QPR on this wine (from Garagiste) is stupid good. I’m a fan. This wine has come into its own now. I don’t think age helps the wine develop more. I could see this moving from purple fruit to red fruit in a couple of years, but lovely now.
