April 21, 2020 - Looks like Pinot and initially smelt like Pinot. Definitely a red that, at this youthful stage, benefits from breathing, showing much better on day two. Pale garnet to darker ruby core.

A mix of savoury (earthy/dried herb) and floral red fruits on the nose. Almost singed cinnamon or musk stick, perhaps pointing to the 50% whole bunch component.

Palate creeps up on you by stealth. Light-medium bodied but with mounting drive and persistence on the back palate, where you want it. Inner-mouth perfume. Minerally finish. An artful palate that draws you in, some intrigue in the darker fruited recesses on the back.

Fascinating to see how it evolves over five to ten years. One of the Pinot-school of new Grenache. Good wine but doubt whether it’s good value at AUD80 from the winery. It’s not Yangarra, yet.
