Community Tasting Note

May 1, 2020 - Very bready/yeasty with green sour apples and lime on the nose. Taste is similar, and rather sweet when taking the low dosage into account. Overall very simple. Not a memorable wine at all in my opinion, atleast not at this point (don't know if it'll get better). Reminds me of decent cremant. Hopefully the next bottle is more exciting.

5/6/20, 3:03 AM - I have not opened any of my 2012's yet (Moet, Bollinger, Pol Roger, Roederer and Taittinger) as pretty sure from all the tasting notes so far that this one is going to need time (but is always useful to see other's experiences and notes). I would wait a bit if you have decent storage of course. Contemplating a 2008 Moet this weekend if I can convince the wife that a Saturday in May is a special enough occasion!

5/10/20, 1:37 AM - Brentw1, I never quite understood the necessity of special occasion to justify champagne - nonetheless I often find myself in the same situation here at home ;)
Hope the 2008 was good. I have a few of those as well that I might try to get a proxy for the 2012 down the road.

5/10/20, 4:01 AM - Depends on your definition of a special occasion ;-).

Two weeks ago it was when I got my next door neighbour's lawnmower running..............it demanded a bottle of Alfred Gratien's excellent NV to celebrate the event.

Today, I have just decanted a bottle of 2010 Sociando Mallet because it is a bit overcast and I have a piece of top-side slow-roasting in the oven (I don't let my good lady wife anywhere near my kitchen!). Happy days.
