  May 6, 2020 - The 1998 is a long-time favorite. We opened it to celebrate my son’s 22nd birthday and, like him, the wine has matured and softened and is more complex. The prominent tannins of its first ten or twelve years have evened out, providing structure but not dominating. The acids remain balanced as always. It is the bouquet that has exploded - sweet cherry and plum burst out of the glass. I rated this 95 but, honestly, I’m not sure I’ve enjoyed a better bottle of CDP ever. Such a gorgeous wine.
