5/18/20, 7:50 PM - Mark - Thanks for the comment! Full disclosure: it was my 10 year anniversary and I had been earmarking that bottle since I bought it 5 years ago; given this I may have given it an extra point or so due to the special occasion. Regardless it was still a phenomenal bottle and I stand by the “best I’ve had” comment. I’m certainly not a connoisseur, more of an “aspiring enthusiast” to borrow one of Total Wine’s terms. Judging by the amount (and caliber) of bottles in your cellar looks like you have a lot more experience than I do so take my comment for what it’s worth.

Bust yours out next time you have something to celebrate, you won’t be disappointed.

5/18/20, 8:05 PM - Hey Ryan....good to be friends....nothing wrong with being an aspiriing enthusiast! We all started somewhere on this journey.....I used to be a wine club member at BV but dropped them after a couple of years as the wines just didn't stand up to so many others. I think they then sold and another winemaker came on but I do have one of my '11s of this left and just picked up 2 of the '15s as they scored well and people were happy with how they drank. I will probably have this '11 soon. I only have 2 or 3 other '11s from other wineries left in my cellar and I think it's time to drink them! Cheers! Mark

5/21/20, 7:10 PM - I appreciate the encouraging words and context on BV. Would love to hear some of the alternatives that you recommend around the same price point if you get a chance. Are the ones in your profile overview your go-tos? Looks like you know your cabs!

5/22/20, 5:20 AM - Ryan, they have been my go to's but they are getting increasingly more expensive every year. There are still some terrific bangs for the buck out there in cabs:
    1. Drinkward Peschon @$60-80
    2. Patria Oakville @$80-85
    3. Jean Edwards Rutherford and Atlas Peak @$75-85
    4. Selah @$110
    5. Judge Palmer Vintage Select @$50
    6. B Cellars Ehrlich cab @$125 retail, $104 to members is maybe THE best Napa cab most years for the money.

Bear in mind, there are always less than stellar years like '11 and '17 where I don't buy many wines at all and just drink my other stuff. Cheers! Mark
