  June 17, 2020 - Barely cloudy boysenberry, nose of dark plums, blackberry, black pepper. The palate is much redder, raspberry, wild cherry cough drops, overripe watermelon, and spice, tart fruity finish. Apparently this wine started off as a sort of blanc de noir from the very dark saperavi grape, but the volume was short of filing the qvevri... so it was supplemented with red wine, hence the rose description. It is very vivacious and intense, hiding 14+ percent alcohol very well, and somewhat overpowered our chicken burgers. Second night still plenty going on but a little less startling. I like wines which taste of red but feel like white, so this is right on target for me.
