July 25, 2020 - The 2015 Gourt de Martens has been widely praised by numerous critics for myself as much as I enjoyed the wine I did not fall head over heels for this vintage. Immediately on the palette there was a ripe sweetness that did not appeal to me, attractive berry aromas, the structure felt a bit unbalanced and I found the alcohol on the finish a touch too much. At this stage I much preferred the 2010& 2012 vintages. I have other bottles of this so will return to this offering in around 3-5 years this is one reason why you should try wines young and if you agree with a wine critics assessment. A lot of the time I do not........

Other vintages of the Gourt de Mautens were more accessible in their youth and immensely enjoyable. There is no pattern in the region I have consumed CNDP 2015 that have been drinking really well as well as many other Northern Rhone 2015 wines.

One is always learning with wine some you win others you lose.
