August 9, 2020 - Good wine, but I had expected/hoped for more. Indulgent and intense nose. Loads of brambly fruit; raspberries, blackberries mixed with Asian spices and a nice note of black tea. With air, earthy aromas of coffee and cocoa develop. In the mouth this is initially quite sweet and very fruity, but with air it settles down into a somewhat darker but very complex assembly of forest fruits and spice. It's well made with a lovely texture and suprising freshness. I find, however, that it is rather one dimensional. The flavours are certainly complex but quite overwhelming and show little evolution through the mid-palette and finish. It's also rather poor value for money at CHF 56. CHF30-40 would be more appropriate.

8/11/20, 10:19 PM - Your description and disappointment don't make it sound like a 92-pointer. Sorry it was underwhelming; I've still yet to try any of the Once and Future bottlings. When Ridge is $30-40, justifying Zin at $50-60 is a tough gig. Still, I'd hope for more from this.

8/13/20, 12:39 AM - Maybe my note came off a little too negative then, because it really is a delicious wine and very well made. I just like a bit more evolution on the palette and the QPR is way off. I didn't factor the price into the score... Maybe it was just my palette though because I burnt the top of my mouth slightly shortly before trying it. Not sure if that affected how I tasted the wine. I probably won't buy it again though.
