August 6, 2020 - What a great bottle of WISCONSIN wine! Marquette is the grandchild of Pinot Noir and the cousin of Frontenac. There's a smokiness to the nose and the palate, along with cherry and a hint of cola. This tastes like it has more age than an '18 for sure, and there's a lot going on. Depth, balance, a meatiness, some herbal characteristics, a little forest floor, it's just better than anything else that comes from around here. Do a blind tasting and this absolutely holds up to many West Coast wines. Could easily be a replacement for Pinot Noir at Thanksgiving, and the cherry on the finish would lend itself to being a dessert wine for creme brûlée as well. I'm into it! 89-90 pts.
