August 30, 2020 - Light clear red with a slight salmon orangey tinge and a watery edge. The nose is delicate and aromatic dominated by sweet red fruits intricately combined with some wild herbaceous and mild floral notes (which reminds me of the smell that you get when you are standing in the middle of the fruit section in the close vicinity of the vegetable and florist sections in a supermarket during the summertime when all the ripe summer fruits are in season). The palate is medium-bodied, refreshingly savory, deceptively light in appearance but quite robust in the mouth when it comes to structure and tannins but quite balanced in relationship to the acids, alcohol and quality of fine delicate yet powerful fruits. The flavor components of this young Barbaresco is first and foremost fruit-driven (primarily that of ripe red fruits), some damp forest floor, slight menthol, a subtle floral components and a good bit of earthy minerals and chalky tannins especially towards the backend. This is a highly drinkable and delicious wine at this juncture but can certainly stand to improve for at least another 6 - 8 more years in the cellar. Very well made wine.
