October 31, 2020 - Drank this truly sublime wine with the Johansson's at Halloween, paired with lobster rolls. The nose had classic white Burgundy notes but was somewhat muted compared to the explosion of flavours on the palate. The vanilla (from the oak) is dominant on the attack, but while I absolutely detest over-oaked chardonnays this was amazingly balanced and the flavours perfectly integrated. Immediately after the vanilla your moth is filled with fruit, a lot of it tropical in style bringing the mind temporarily to South African wines, but the texture of the wine takes you right back to Meursault - it really IS "creamy". How can a wine be creamy (but not cloying)? I'm not sure, but it is major success and perfect for drinking now. I think it's drinking window is significantly longer than 2021, but it is unlikely to get better than this.
