November 27, 2020 - another 'oodles of fruit wine', and I called it a fruit bomb, to which the Patriarch promptly objected. But in no way was this a pejorative comment. Very ripe, rich, yet still fresh with what seemed like Rutherford dust (alas this property is Prichard Hill), and a hint of a grappa character that reminded me a bit of Harlan. Belongs with the big boy wines for sure, just no need for food in fact probably better just on its own.

But of course like all things in wine its is a personal preference. To me the fruit is so lush that I want to experience it on its own. Cheers -

12/3/20, 12:48 PM - I saw that note, and do agree with you on it being a matter of personal preference. I also note that, compared to me, you seem to often to drink more European, more structured, older wines, although to many of my friends on the site, I drink more that way than those who are more regularly drinking the wines of TRB, Mike Smith, Kirk Venge and Russ Bevan, which, to me, are truly non-food wines.
As an aside, you drink great wines, have interesting things to say about them and are geographically proximate. I get together with a few friends from the site from time to time to enjoy wine, sometimes with dinners. Subject to the facts that many rational people wouldn't sign up for hanging with a bunch of strangers during the middle of a pandemic--even if they were hanging out outside with distancing--would you being interested in joining us, perhaps at a more propitious moment? -
