December 11, 2020 - Took its time to open up: two hours of air do make sense. Good wine but a bit stern. I did expect somewhat more.

12/11/20, 8:47 AM - Would encourage revisiting in 5 years, if your inventory allows. My experience with this wine tends to lean toward opening around 20 years from vintage. Frankly, I kind of wish this bottling was more approachable than the D'Alceo, but I haven't found it to be.

12/11/20, 11:38 AM - Highly grateful for Michael Zoppo’s comment on taking time.

I’ve only just begun touching the 2009’s (its high on the ready-to-drink list, which guides my priorities) but there the cellar pipeline is full.

A few bottles of 04 and 06 are still there and will be kept for some serious benchmarking with friends. If you can spare a few years, continue watching this space.

8/23/21, 6:00 PM - Give it 3-3.5 hours of air, and it will be singing more sweetly than Pavarotti! Cheers!
