  December 23, 2020 - The flavors are excellent but muted compared to the previous bottle, costing this a couple of points. Red fruit and a bit of cola and oak, with prominent tannins. No spice or earth in this particular bottle.

  2/14/21, 7:06 PM - I was not all that impressed with this '13 after having a '14 a week before. The '14 kicked its ass. I'm hoping these '13s start to come around soon, everyone seems to be waiting on them to fulfill their projected promise from 8 years ago......

  2/14/21, 8:02 PM - Mark, thanks for the comment. I had a 2013 in March 2020 and loved it, but the one in December, while good, was not the same as the one in March. I guess I'll sit on the remaining ones and see if they come back.

  2/14/21, 8:17 PM - Glad to help in any way possible. I'm going to sit on my last '13 and drink up my Hartwell '14s this year. Still waiting on all these '13s to come roaring back, from most all makers not just Hartwell. They've never really shown like they were supposed to, imo. There have only been a few exceptions. I'm starting to think that many a winemaker missed the boat in their handling of the '13 crop. That has me concerned about the '18 vintage now as '18 should be the '13s on steroids. Will they muck up the '18s?

  2/14/21, 8:25 PM - Mark, great point on the 13's. I remember 2013 being hailed as one of the all-time great CA vintages. I've had some good 13's, but I've had some rather pedestrian 13's as well.
