January 23, 2021 - Re-tasted after my first score (92), the wine (or me?) was in a bad day.

Incredible!!! One of the 3 best Saint-Emilion 2019 and certainly the best quality/price of all. The best ever. 97-99

Since 2015, Troplong has moved to the next level and finally deserves its place of 1er Cru. My favorite Saint-Emilion for 2019:
1 Figeac (for me the greatest wine of the year)
    2 cannon
    3 cheval blanc
    4 Troplong Mondot
5 Larcis Ducasse (for its fabulous quality / price ratio)

1/24/21, 11:21 AM - Your 2019 list of top wines. In the states we are just getting a fraction of our 2018s due to the tariffs and the e reviews out there to date are pretty minimal. Thank you for your patience!

1/24/21, 11:23 AM - Is your top five 2018 favorites similar to your 2019 top five?

1/24/21, 11:51 AM - I think it's far too early to tell but it will be a matter of taste anyway. In mine, I place 2016 above all and 2019 just behind because I am not a fan of Parker wines (wood soup), I favor finesse over power. I try to follow each year a panel of the few wines that I prefer to compare them each year with each other even if I have hardly any in my cellar. The Ca-Ca-Ca (Canon, Carmes H-B, Calon-Segur), Petrus, Lafleur, ...
Well, I have to say that Lafleur, Petrus, and Calon Segur dominate everyone else in 2018 (along with the astounding Rauzan Segla), only Canon and Carmes H-B are that great in the 2 years. And in 2019 Figeac dominates everything.
Finally, my personal taste goes more to Bourgognes, especially in 2018 which I imagine really exceptional. If you have the chance to come across wines from Benjamin Leroux (at the level of Leroy in my opinion), Arnoux-Lachaux, or the fabulous Clos Saint-Jacques from Bruno Clair, Buy, and buy !!!
