February 2, 2021 - Tart red fruit along the lines of strawberry and pomegranate, just a bit of a slightly darker savory side, M+ acid, M- body, M- tannin. Down the middle Bourgogne rouge that’s built as it should be and gives you what you’d expect and nothing more—but for a budget price negociant Bourgogne rouge that’s good enough.

On its own this is very drinkable but boring, but it’s very gastronomic and would work well with a wide variety of food. We had it with a sweet potato-tahini-paprika mash topped with mushrooms sautéed in garlic, smoked sea salt, thyme, etc. + boxed Annie’s Mac and cheese and it worked very well. So this feels like something to buy if you want a very food friendly Pinot that’s inexpensive and doesn’t draw attention. Beyond that it obviously isn’t good value compared to what you can get from eg Rioja, Chianti, or the Languedoc for the same price. ~5-5.5/10
