February 18, 2021 - Nicely done and young. Had with duck and it did not disappoint. Wine is rich with red fruit. There is a chalkiness quality in the middle and the finish is dry. Tannins and cassis will keep this going for many years. PNP the bottle and enjoyed it over three hours. Noticed that it became more popular after two hours. 2017 was a tough year and there was not even a whisper of smoke taint. Also, it does not seem that the grapes were picked before their time. I am looking forward in trying the next bottle in a couple of years.

2/26/21, 7:05 PM - I know - unbelievable and I do not even recognize myself anymore. You and Mark were so selective with 2017's that the few that I purchased I thought needed to be opened on the younger side. I did not want to risk the smoke taint creeping in over time. Roy Piper may not have had that problem, but I can't get over thinking the 2017's are not worthy of aging at all and that I should enjoy them while they are young and in good shape. Time has a way of creeping up on the best of us and you can't tell early on who will be the winners or losers.

4/13/21, 9:26 PM - Finished the bottle today. The coravin worked great. It was very enjoyable having rested with the argon gas. The tannins were quite impressive and the wine balanced with rich blueberry fruit. Score is increased to 95
