March 13, 2021 - Wine pours to a rich ruby red color. After a 30 minute decant, it opened to a nice aroma of dark fruit and some earth tones. Tastes of black cherry, blackberry and other dark fruits were pronounced and the wine was also rather hot with the alcohol octane. James Suckling rated this a 98?? Makes me wonder if he was just having a bad day in the winery as this wine doesn’t even come close. It is a very good wine overall with nice acidity, med-full body and has high tannins, but lacks the complexity and finesse for me to give it a rating above 90. It has a decent price to value ratio in my opinion, but don’t expect a mind bending 98 rated head turner like is depicted on the label. If you can get it for under $35 it is very worth trying.
