March 19, 2021 - Zoom tasting of Musar wines, hosted by Auriol Wine, Hampshire, UK with wines introduced by Elliott O'Mara of Chateau Musar UK. The second of three vintages in the tasting, the others being 2014 and 1998. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, cinsault and carignan. Dark plum colour. Menthol nose, spicy, oranges. Rich and full palate. Appearing very fresh and young, despite 11 years from the vintage, but typical of Musar which needs a long time in bottle to reach its peak. Leather, saddle, slight sweetness of fruit. Very good.

3/28/21, 2:53 PM - Enjoyable now, it's not obvious this will ever be great wine. I offer 3 reasons: resid CO2 persists, significant tannin after 10+ years, average finish. I like it and am not sorry I bought it however, some '80's Bordeaux of great promise never fulfilled their destiny, well stored wines at 55. I suppose we could wait longer but 1986 was some time ago, a 1989 same. Wines that excelled were not all ones I assumed, and a 1982 Pichon Lalande was very good but not 100 points 15 years later. You pay your money and take your chances :-) This one is unclear but holding many, I am drinking.
