April 2, 2021 - Little seepage on the cork. Colour somewhere between ruby and garnet. Great nose with black fruit, eucalyptus, liquorice and blood. Soft palate with dark fruit - almost blackcurrant boiled sweet. Tannins are soft but rather intrusive and drying on the finish - nice but on this showing the tannins are running stronger than the fruit. Will be interesting to check out the next bottle.

4/3/21, 8:05 AM - Not sure to be honest - will be opening a second bottle from this case in the near future and will add another note. I hope the second bottle is better! Otherwise it may be time to drink up...

4/3/21, 11:05 AM - I dont have specific recent experience with the Palmer, but my experience of similara 2004s is that they're very early into drinking windows AT BEST - the palmer should be prime for another 5 years + MINIMUM if well stored, and I'd have thought it'd be amazing in 10 years easily.

4/3/21, 12:35 PM - That’s what I was expecting myself - bottle had a noticeably low fill level for the vintage so I am hoping it’s a one off. Have had some great 04’s recently - Talbot, Leoville Barton and Las Cases.
