October 13, 2008 - Decanted two hours before serving. Initial nose full of yoghurt and crisp cherryfruit. Later also lavender, oak and some alcoholic heat. On the palate full, intense, but not jammy or overripe. Instead notes of oak, mocha, ripe forest fruit, coffee, oak, mint and a bit smokey. Ripe tannins along the way. Long, looong finish, with some alcoholic heat (14.5%!). A 'muscle wine'.
This Faïzeau needs at least 3-5 more years to settle down. Plenty of potential and material, now it's time to find the balance. But even now....Superb!
