May 19, 2021 - A Rimessa Roscioli wine club pick. It's an amphora wine from near Naples. 100% Catalanesca. Kind of a sneaky wine that grew on me over a few nights. Color leans towards gold, so it looks substantial. On pop and pour it seemed a little dilute and maybe a bit flat. Some chalkiness. Maybe even a bit of tannin? But with air and food it gained depth and additional richness. Mostly yellow fruits and some herbal notes. Long finish. Drank it with grilled steelhead, grilled teriyaki chicken thighs and homemade chicken noodle soup over four nights with Coravin preservation the first two nights. Distinctive and very good. This is the kind of wine that makes the Rimessa wine club so worthwhile.
