May 24, 2021 - Nose: The nose is a bit shy at first and it takes about 2+ hours to really open up. Once it opens up, it’s not so much alive as it is an experience of pure Nebbiolo aromatics of rose petals, red cherries, raspberries, strawberries, crushed rocks, loads of savory herbs, wild flowers, a touch of citrus peel, and bits of tar. There is very good depth here with an almost ethereal quality at the moment.

Taste: The feel is Full bodied with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. This is in a lovely place on the feel as there is poise and a sense of being whole showing off an elegant touch to the tones of red cherries, strawberries, crushed rocks, savory herbs, wild flowers, red fruits, and tar notes.

Overall: Oh 2005 Barolo. I’ve always been a fan of elegant vintages and this is just on point right now. This only saw bottle air with me pouring off a bit before really getting into it. This can age longer, though there is zero reason not to enjoy this right now with about 2 hours of air.
