May 14, 2021 - Château du Tertre, Margaux, 2018: Deep garnet towards royal purple. On the nose, cigar box, ripe forest berries, menthol, freshly brewed coffee and a hint of cocoa. Full-bodied, extracted yet elegant, with a rich and silky texture. The palate displays notes of ripe raspberries and blackberries, graphite, hints of earth, tea leaves, bittersweet cocoa, cigar tobacco and nutmeg. Medium acidity and firm, searing and ripe tannins with notes of tar and dark chocolate on a long and powerful finish. While it doesn't have as much finesse and feminine Margaux character as the 2016 at this early stage, there is undoubtedly lots of potential here but it needs more time to reveal itself. 14.5% Abv. Drink 2030-2040, perhaps longer. 92-93
