June 6, 2021 - Not a rebuy. Better wines to purchase. Not a bad wine. Just doesnt intrigue me enough for rebuy.

6/7/21, 11:51 PM - I'd be interested to hear of the better Rose Champagnes to consider at an equivalent price point

6/8/21, 3:51 AM - Hugues Godme Rosé is far more better than this and it is cheaper ($40 usd)

6/8/21, 10:09 PM - Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve not tasted Hugues Godme Rose, but just ordered three bottles to try. I’ll get back to you

6/28/21, 8:26 PM - Received three bottles of Hugues Godme Rose and opened the first one week later. I was disappointed with this first bottle. Beautiful colur and very fine bead, but there was no escaping an upfront bitterness which spoiled the enjoyment. I'll reserve judgement until the other bottles have had more time to rest.

6/28/21, 8:45 PM - Thats unfortunate. I didnt get any bitterness but of course everybody's palate is different. Hope the other 2 bottles taste better for you. If not I guess we just have different preference. Curious, did you drink it at colder or warmer temperature?

7/10/21, 8:14 PM - I find this wine highly variable and chalk it up to its base vintage (which they don’t print). In a warm base year vintage, it’s better. My first two were fantastic, last two about the same as your experience/perspective (@10XM).

Others that come to mind to try …

Marc Hebrart Rose, (Chardonnay based & benefits from time to soften and integrate). $60 retail but Envoyer runs a sale on it for like $40 I think.

Paul Bara Rose, $65 by me and have heard great things but yet to try. A bit more red added (10%+) and it’s Bouzy Pinot fruit.

Charles Heidsieck Rose, around $60, on sale $50. It’s done in 100% stainless steel with only 20% reserve wines, so base year is key on this one.

Laurent Perrier Rose, 100% Pinot and 5 years on the lees. I’ve heard people age this for 10/20 years and it only gets better.

7/10/21, 8:21 PM - Hebrart and Paul Bara are good wines.

7/10/21, 11:50 PM - Thank you for the suggestions. I'm not sure how difficult it might be to find the first two in Australia. I'll do a search shortly. The Billecart-Salmon, a favourite, is around $A118 compared with $A70 for the Hugues Godme, so wort further investigation. Cheers
