July 3, 2021 - Had in a lineup with a magical '89 d'Yquem, and a 1990 Baumards Quarts de Chaume though very very good was not quite in the same ballpark as the other two. The viscosity of the Cuvee Contance is just remarkable. It complete coats the mouth and dominates the nose, the texture, and the taste. Moving at a glacial rate, this thing is still as the first time I tasted this well over a decade ago. On the nose and palate orange marmalade, apricot, honey, chrysanthemum and Pu Erh Tea. Still and surprisingly very fresh and super long finish. Where the the Yquem has a greater elegance and persistence on the finish, this Cuvee Constance has more staying power if not the ultimate length of the Yquem.

7/4/21, 9:23 AM - I'd guess that head to head, the '89 Constance would have given the d'Yquem more of a run for its money since 1989 was a truly great vintage for botrytized Loire dessert wines. That said, I had a similarly positive impression of the '95 when I tasted it a few months ago. Thank you for the note.

7/9/21, 7:28 AM - drwine2001, yes I agree with the 89 Cuvee Constance, that one is a freak of a bottle. Glad to have tried that too in the past. Another glacial mover. I never see those anymore any and am not old enough to have purchased on release back then at those prices. A multiple case purchase would have allowed for a lifetime of enjoyment.
