July 21, 2021 - So much complexity. Simply explosive nose. Just showing some age at the rim, and just entering full maturity. Red fruits (mostly dried), eucalyptus, coffee, flowers of all sorts on the palate. Thick, long and lingering. A monumental wine given the vintage. Not in the class of the '98 but still an amazing, amazing glass of syrah.

7/22/21, 8:50 AM - Slowox for an hour then decanted - wine was best when the fruit was fresh in the first 60-90 minutes after decanting. It was fine beyond that but not as nice. So give it a chance to open up but not too long.
