July 29, 2021 - This is a delightful and practically 'joli' St. Julien. Out of 375mL, with a great cork and spinning heavy capsule, this savory and fruited bottle had lifted aromatics, fresh acidity, and a full and pleasantly rusty/sweet mid-palate. Dried tobacco, cigar box, tar, candied plums, red currants, smoldering cast iron, and eucalyptus were all present in the expressive nose and palate. Slightly-purplish crimson to a watery rim, barely any bricking. She scarcely budged (only getting a little tighter/less generous) over the paltry half-hour in the decanter before this beauty was gone. Lip-smacking, brooding, and balanced. Wish I had more, for $25 this well-stored half-bottle was a joy!
