Community Tasting Note

  • I'd Rather Be Drinking Wine Likes this wine: 92 points

August 5, 2021 - Luis back on the Saddle @ The Kenwood: PnP from .375 - small taste - like most 2005's a little on the sweet side with not enough acidity to quite balance it out, but still very pleasant to sip! Honeyed golden fruit with peach, creamed orange and apricot dominating, hints of Meyers Lemon and caramel. A very nice, well made Sauternes. Like most Sauternes, can be drunk now for its rich fruit and acidity, or can be held for more caramel and creaminess....has the fruit, and enough acidity to last quite some time. 92+ points.

8/25/21, 9:26 AM - I usually stick to Rieussec, Climens and Yquem....but best Guirard I have had is the '11, so far....funny though, '79 Guirard (not a particularly good vintage) was what got me interested in wine!

12/19/21, 1:36 PM - What first turned me on to wine was a bottle of Ch. Yquem and a bottle of Chambertin. I had had non-Mogen David before but they were Italian generics (soave, valpolicella). These were the wines that made me feel that wine could be ecstasy!
