8/18/21, 7:19 PM - Thanks for this, I was looking into that too. Couldn't find enough info so going to pop the '18 flagship blend and vhr again this weekend just to remind myself if I'm a fan.

8/19/21, 5:37 AM - I'm with you B on the 18/19 comparison. I believe Csimm & Cristal have some notes on 19. Personally buying the blend at $225.00 to get to the SVD wines seems a little bit of an ask with all the new projects on radar.

8/20/21, 12:01 PM - Reminds me a tad of Spottswoode where you had to buy the 17' to get access to the 18'. That being said, MM has grown on me. Not as much as VV has (I backed up the semi on the 19 VV lineup) but if I want a more fruit forward napa wine, this is a good one to go to. Will I be getting the 19'? Probably. It sucks that I would probably have to buy a 3 pack but I guess that is the price of admission if you want a shot at the SVD and I have my eye out on the Las Piedras and Vine Hill Ranch SVDs for MM to complement my VV and Carter 19's.

8/20/21, 12:10 PM - I was able to take down VHR, DrC & LPV without purchasing the blend in 18. With that said I'm not sure if it was a fluke or not. I did visit the tasting room and our group did buy a good bit of wine.

8/20/21, 12:45 PM - I got most of my wine during the tasting as well. No DrC though (sad face). For the less fortunate that cannot visit the tasting room, I hear they really reward people who buy what they call their Flagship wine. I was surprised to hear how many cases they make for their non SVD.

8/20/21, 2:02 PM - Gonna do some homework tonight and this weekend gentlemen.

Decanting the blend for tonight, and doing the LPV and DrC this weekend, will report back.

8/20/21, 2:17 PM - Oops totally left that out, I'm gonna work on the '18s.

8/20/21, 3:49 PM - I'm very curious as to how long these 18's will take these to open up.

8/20/21, 3:58 PM - Wombat- that is quite the Labor of Love right there :)

And depending on where you live, I will either be one hour away to help with the due diligence, or 4 hours. Either way, I will be knocking on your day this evening with a Zalto in hand...

EDIT- well, I checked, and youre in SF? Be there in 3 hours :)

8/20/21, 4:33 PM - LOL! Well like most of you guys, I'm trying to find out will it be worth it.. I had to reread their changes that made me go, "wow.. being kinda strict there."

I don't exactly make money like some of you gents so I HAVE to do stuff like this :P

  • MJP Hou TX commented:

8/21/21, 4:44 AM - What is the total production? Is that on their website?

  • bsumoba commented:

8/21/21, 8:21 AM - No, but Gennevieve told me at the tasting. To be quite honest, I dont remember the number, but I remember it being much higher than I expected.

8/26/21, 12:35 PM - They also produce/distribute a retail wine called "Vanitas." It's $100/bottle. I don't know if its the same as their flagship or leftovers but a blind tasting might be the way to go to prove it out. Obviously, they produce much more wine than one would expect from a cult winery.
