Community Tasting Note

August 19, 2021 - 2 hr decant. Poured black opaque and viscous but not thick, glycerin-like and inky.

Nose was Tench all the way, tar, burnt embers, black fruit, white flowers, touch of mocha, lovely mineral/iron ore component.

Palate showed faint tannins on the medium finish no obvious signs of over oakiness ( I love how RB manages oak). Black and blue fruited (I expected red but alas, none), exotic spices, more white flowers. A touch, just a touch, of acidic heat and purple fruit on the back end.

Big, bold and unapologetically delicious. In no way shape or form is the fruit overcooked or the wine overdone! 94 for now, needs to integrate more, hold for minimum of 3 yrs. Try again after 2024. I think JD 98+ is a bit high, 96-97 potential in my mind. I hope JD is right, however!
