August 20, 2021 - A good wine but not much has really changed with this wine from my last experience months ago. Great color, dark rich appealing purple and nose. On the palate, inhibited and muted still. Perhaps the is an old world type of Cali Cab, maybe better days are ahead? Great vintage, surprising showing to this point. 90+ points.

8/20/21, 9:24 AM - Nice note, and I would agree with this producer.

Visited with Mark to the estate several years ago, and drank through a couple vintages. Bought the 13-15 if I recall, and have drank them over the years.

For whatever reason, these wines never struck me, which is disappointing given that Mark is a very talented winemaker and the vineyard sits amongst some of my favorite in all of Napa (Las Piedras, Crane, Bourn, etc).

I do think that these wines are made to be laid down for an extended period of time, and a more old world style is pursued.

That being said, I haven't bought in the past several years and probably wont... Too much good juice out there that captures my attention...

8/20/21, 8:34 PM - I was able to try the 2009 vintage and I was pretty impressed with that bottle, unfortunately my experience with this label has been down hill every since. I was moved to acquire a few bottles of the 2013 and 2016 vintages, wines that based on those vintages, I expected more after a few years of cellaring. Unfortunately, that has not been the case so far. Like you, I do feel that there could be some suppressed stuffing to these wine that just require more time to develop. Old world style, probably? I have gotten use to Cali wines that are more approachable, I don't expect to open another of these bottles anytime soon.

8/21/21, 1:45 PM - Thanks for the note. I too, have had a similar experience with this label and will hold off drinking the remaining '13's and 14's that I have. Drank the 2015 Scarlett this week and it was impressive!
